Love Story – Manish Paul, while narrating his love story, said, ‘The memory of my first meeting with Sanyukta is of a fancy dress competition, in which I became Raj Kapoor and Sanyukta became Mother Teresa. We both knew each other from the nursery, but we never had a conversation. She was a very educated girl and I used to run in the name of studies also.
“I and Sanyukta became friends when I started taking tuitions with her mother. I used to get all my homework done by Sanyukta and she used to do it happily too. The special thing is that Sanyukta also knew about the breakup of my school days. Once I and Samyukta were in the theatre. During that time I got a call, I was asked on the phone, can I do anchoring for a program. I also used to do part-time anchoring. After that phone call, I ran away leaving Sanyukta in the theatre. I thought she would get angry, but she told me, ‘It’s all right.’ This made me realize that I have feelings for her.
‘A few weeks later, I told Sanyukta, ‘I like you.’ Sanyukta took three days to answer me and then we became official girlfriend-boyfriend. After that, I used to visit Sanyukta every day at her house on the pretext of studying. Sanyukta’s father used to tease me in Bengali that it comes every day. We used to meet like this during school days and then after 12 we went to different colleges, but during college days also we did meet once a day every day. ‘I remember, I once told Sanyukta, ‘I want to be an actor. Must go to Mumbai.’ And then a week later I came to Mumbai. When I was struggling, Sanyukta supported me completely. Then in the year 2006, I got a full-time job as an RJ, then I told Sanyukta, let’s get married.
